The day included a putting contest, barbeque lunch and a shotgun start at 12:00pm. The evening event included a cocktail hour, buffet dinner, raffle and silent auction. Although it was a chilly day, the 72 golfers enjoyed the day on the course and worked up an appetite. Later everyone gathered for a delicious dinner and the chance to mingle and learn a little more about the Center and its programs. The evening program was MC’d by Dr. Bob Hughlett, Chairperson of the CFGC Foundation, and included recognition of sponsors and an awards presentation. Jim Edwards, Mayor Pro Tem of Cerritos and Secretary of both the Center’s and CFGC Foundation’s Board of Directors, spoke about the Center and the importance of events such as these in raising private funds for the continuation and expansion of services. In particular, he gave an overview of the Center’s Safety Bear Program, which teaches elementary-aged children about child abuse prevention. The evening program concluded with an exciting raffle and silent auction.

Through sponsorships and donations, the 2010 Golf Classic raised $28,531. The Center is happy to announce that $18,982 net profit will be used to expand and continue to support ongoing mental health counseling and child abuse prevention and treatment programs. The Center would like to thank all of our sponsors and golfers, whose support will significantly change the lives of at-risk, low income, and underserved children. If you would like more information about the Center and its programs and services, please contact us at (562) 924-5526 or visit www.cfgcenter.com.
